COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE 35oC SORPTION ISOTHERMS OF CORK STRIPPED FROM THE TREE IN 1968 AND 2006

چکیده
A study was made of the hygroscopicity of two samples of cork with the same characteristics, taken from trees of the same age but with a 38year gap between debarking. This was achieved by plotting the 35oC sorption-desorption isotherms and fitting them using the GAB model. Infrared spectra were used to determine any chemical changes in the cell wall. Extended exposure to controlled relative humidity and temperature did not cause hygroscopic changes to the cork. The equilibrium moisture content values were not significantly different in the two samples, but the monolayer saturation moisture content values were significantly lower in the older cork. This may be due to partial saturation of the moisture sorptive sites in the cell wall over time.

متن کاملEffects of Increasing Potassium Chloride and Calcium Chloride Ionic Strength on Pesticide Sorption by Potassium- and Calcium-Smectite
In aqueous suspension, the affinity of many pesticides for smectites is influenced by the clay properties such as surface area, surface charge density and location, exchangeable cations, and hydration status of exchangeable cations in clay interlayers. The amount and the type of salts present in the aqueous phase influence clay quasicrystal structures and hydration status, which we hypothesize ...

Rhizopogon is a hypogeous fungal genus that grows in an ectomycorrhizal symbiosis mostly with members of the Pinaceae family and its worldwide distribution correlates with natural and exotic Pinaceae forests. In Iran, Rhizopogon species have received scant attention from collectors in the past and have not been adequately collected. Few older studies, report the presence of R. luteolus (Saber 1...

On a survey during the period of 2006-2007 a number of tylenchids were found associated with Zea mays in Kashmir valley such as Pratylenchus sativus kaul, 1985, Aphelenchoides srinagrensis Kaul, 1985 and Tylenchorhynchus zeae Sethi and G. Swarp, 1968. These species were found to have morphometric variations probably due to habitat alteration from the originally described ones. As a part of the ...
